Saleen Yellow Label Mustang

If you’ve heard anything about Saleen vehicles, you know they’re anything but your run-of-the-mill Ford Mustang. Beyond the regular equipment found in Ford Mustangslies the true character of a Saleen Mustang. The Salleen yellow stands out to both dealer and buyer alike as possibly the most attractive model. With serious horsepower not found in Ford Mustang or lower-end Saleen Mustang models, along with ample equipment and accessories, the Saleen Yellow Label Mustang is track and road ready. The Saleen Yellow Label Mustang makes the Mustang GT look like child’s play. It’s easy to see why with its characteristically distinct Saleen performance features.

Saleen was founded decades ago by Steve Saleen, a professional racer. The company specializes in making performance parts for performance cars and building custom cars. Saleen makes a truck based on the Ford F-150 and has a new vehicle that builds off the resurrected Ford Bronco. Their signature offering, however, is the iconic Saleen 302 Mustang, which is available in various trims. Below, we will look at the standout features of the Yellow Label Mustang from Saleen and compare it to the other available Saleen trims.

Yellow Label vs White Label vs Black Label
What are the differences between the Saleen Yellow Label, White Label, and Black Label Mustangs?

The main rule with Saleen Performance cars is that horsepower increases as you move through the Saleen trims. The Saleen Yellow Label represents the most significant jump-up due to the addition of Saleen's famed Supercharger. And as you will see in the charts below, there are also some performance and interior upgrades that differ between Saleen trim levels.

Performance Statistics

Saleen White Label

The Saleen Mustang lineup begins with what, by any metric, is not a weak powertrain. Though it doesn’t compare that favorably to the Yellow Label, the Saleen White Label sports a 5.0L V8 engine that makes 500 horsepower. However, it‘s not supercharged like the other Saleen models. The Saleen White Label lacks the cool air induction and 47lb fuel injectors in the other Saleen Mustang models. Still, 500 horsepower is nothing to scoff at.

Saleen Yellow Label

The Yellow Label 302 Mustang has a beastly supercharged 302CI V8 engine that outputs a stunning 745 horsepower with 610 lb-ft of torque. These numbers would not be out of place in a professional racing car, but Saleen makes them available to Iowa drivers with their custom Mustangs. In addition, the Yellow Label has a cold air intake and intercooler that set it apart from the White Label Mustang.

Going from 0-60 in a blistering 3.7 seconds, the Yellow Label Mustang is a true joy to take to the track or on a weekend joyride; whichever you choose, gripping speed and traction are yours to be had with the Saleen Yellow Label Mustang.

The 6-speed manual transmission on the 302 will keep Ames, IA drivers in complete control of the car. The synchronized short-throw shifter that's included makes the driving experience even better, and Saleen's signature style will turn heads just like those first Mustangs that rolled down Main Street. Saleen also offers a special 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and a remote start, letting you focus on the scenery of Story County's country roads.

Saleen Black Label

The Black Label Mustang is just slightly faster than the Yellow Label. Saleen has created a Goldilocks situation, regardless of how fast the Black Label may be. With that said, the Black Label Mustang puts out an impressive 500 horsepower thanks to the upgraded air intake, exhaust, and other air management systems beyond the Saleen Yellow Label. If you want the top speed, this is the choice, but it may not be the most value-minded decision in the Saleen Mustangs lineup.

Interior and Technology

Saleen White Label

This Saleen Mustang is similar to its other Saleen counterparts. With that in mind, it lacks the twin gauges and the two-tone seating found in other Saleen Mustang models. On it, you’ll still find the signature Saleen dash plaque, Saleen shift knobs, and Saleen embroidered headrests found in the other models. Like the Saleen Yellow Label Mustang, this Saleen Mustang comes standard with a backup camera. While still not comparing well with the Yellow Label, the Saleen White Label has no shortage of interior upgrades and technology.

Saleen Yellow Label

The performance specs of the Saleen Yellow Label 302 Mustang certainly impress, as does the car's interior. It includes Saleen-embroidered headrests, as well as their signature leather and Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel. Each Saleen 302 Yellow Label also gets custom gauges. These are just some of the touches that make Saleen's signature vehicles a pleasure to own.

Saleen Black Label

The extra central interior found on this Saleen Mustang is the dash personally signed by Steve Saleen. Because of this, buyers who want the most bang for their buck may opt for a car that’s loaded with all of the Saleen interior amenities and lacks that personal collector’s touch. On top of that, the premium package, available on other Saleen models, is also found to be standard on this Saleen model. With premium door trim and aluminum door plates amid other technological upgrades, it’s worth considering on any Saleen Mustang.

Exterior

Saleen White Label

This Saleen Mustang comes with much of the same on the exterior found in the Saleen Yellow Label and other Saleen models. In addition to the Saleen window sticker, there’s a Saleen spoiler, a Saleen ventilated hood, and a Saleen axial grille amidst other exterior upgrades.

Saleen Yellow Label

Because there are few differences in exterior between the Saleen Yellow Label and lower-end Saleen Models, there is little need to choose the Saleen Yellow Label based on exterior alone. Considering that, the Saleen Yellow Label is still a solid choice on other fronts.

Saleen Black Label

With this Saleen model, you get an upgraded ventilated hood and a new front fascia with LED integration. There are Saleen side skirts and an upgraded grille as well. In addition, there’s a rear fascia built with an integrated exhaust that makes the Saleen Black Label genuinely shine. If you were to decide which Saleen Mustang to get without considering price or performance features, this would be the outstanding winner with its distinctive design.

Additional Performance Features

Saleen White Label

There’s nothing to write home about when it comes to this Saleen Mustang suspension. While it is upgraded with a Saleen strut tower brace, an independent rear suspension, racing brakes, and more, it lacks many of the performance acromion found in the Saleen Yellow Label.

Saleen Yellow Label

With an upgraded equipment group, the Saleen Yellow Label 302 also comes with 20-inch 5-spoke Silver Aluminum wheels, High-Performance ZR Rated tires, and special S-slotted rotors. It includes performance upgrades from Saleen, like the independent rear suspension, RaceCraft springs in the front and back of the car, and a sway bar. On top of this, buyers can add a fully adjustable coilover racecraft suspension, including a complete variety of racecraft suspension components. There’s no two ways about it.—the Saleen Yellow Label Mustang corners like a dream. The Saleen Yellow Label Mustang is an excellent example of style and serious substance in one package.

Saleen Black Label

Although there’s not a significant upgrade in horsepower, there are substantial upgrades to the suspension found in this Saleen Mustang. It comes standard with many optional upgrades to the suspension upgrades you can see in the Saleen Yellow Label Mustang, as well as other Saleen models.
