 Top Ford SUVs

With all of the popular Ford SUV offerings in the automaker's lineup, it is hard to choose a few that stand out. Yet the Explorer consistently remains the top-selling Ford SUV ever, while reviewers and car fans continue to display a preference for the Expedition.

Ford Explorer

The 2021 Ford Explorer provides a smooth ride with comfortable seating and plenty of cargo space. This midsize SUV can also tow over 5,000 pounds when properly configured.

The base Explorer engine is a 2.3-liter four-cylinder model making 300 horsepower. Some trims provide the option of a three-liter V6, which has both a 365 and a 400 horsepower variant. Ford also offers a hybrid Explorer, which uses a 3.3-liter V6 paired with an electric motor to achieve 318 horsepower. All engines couple with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The Explorer offers three rows of seating, with rear-seat entertainment as standard. While most trims use an eight-inch touchscreen, a ten-inch vertically oriented model is available. The Explorer also includes a high level of safety features, such as blind spot monitoring and lane keeping assist, as standard.

Ford Expedition

From its 15 cupholders and eight roomy seats to its 9300-pound maximum towing capacity, the 2021 Ford Expedition is a beast that performs up to its size. All Expedition models get around on a 3.5-liter V6 engine making 375 horsepower, or 400 on the top-level Platinum trim. An independent rear suspension system allows for a smoother ride than most rivals.

The second and third rows fold flat for maximum storage space, with an available power button making the third row fold easily. The eight-inch infotainment screen controls features such as Apple and Android connectivity, as well as a standard 4G LTE in-car data hotspot.

2021 Ford Bronco - The New Arrival

The 2021 Ford Bronco completely reimagines the storied name into an off-road optimized monster. The latest Bronco marks a bold new move for the automaker, as the vehicle is drastically unlike anything that came before in the Ford lineup.

Unlike the Explorer or the Expedition, the Bronco only seats five people, and comes in two- or four-door designs. The Bronco will be the only Ford vehicle with removable doors and a roof, allowing for a pure off-roading experience. The side view mirrors are mounted on the vehicle itself, allowing for their use when the top and doors are removed.

The standard Bronco engine is a 2.3-liter inline-four making 270 horsepower. A 2.7-liter V6 with 310 horsepower is available on some trims.

The Bronco uses a ten-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. However, a seven-speed manual and all-wheel drive are both available options. Most trims boast five drive modes as standard, though Badlands has two more.

The interior of the Bronco is made of durable materials for easy cleaning when used without a top or sides. Available features such as rubber floor mats and marine-grade vinyl make cleanup even easier. Extra-long wheelbase variants have enough space to store the doors behind the back seats.

While the Bronco is not available in stores yet, Ford has developed a reservation system, which will allow customers to convert their reservation into an order with their local Ford dealer beginning in December. Delivery is expected to begin in June 2021, though may continue into 2022 due to high demand.

 Conclusion

The Ford Explorer and Expedition have each proven wildly popular in their own way. Now Ford Motor Company is going in a dramatically different direction with the release of the Bronco. Built for off-road performance and all-weather driving, the Bronco will pursue a place among the top off-road SUVs of today.
