Eluminator Mach E Motor for Sale | Ames, IA

Automotive manufacturer after automotive manufacturer has announced plans to increase their production of, and investment in, electric vehicles (EVs). This has worried some car enthusiasts. Some worry that electric vehicles will not be as powerful as traditional ones. Others worry that the customization work they love will not be a part of this new automotive reality.

Ford has decided to put those fears to rest! The company recently announced that they will be selling the Eluminator Mach E electric motor by itself. This will allow automotive enthusiasts to complete their own custom EV builds. It's also a powerful motor, so they need not fear that this new era will be marred by weak cars. In the rest of this article we will take a closer look at the Eluminator, and at how it fits into Ford's overall EV strategy.

Eluminator Specs

The Eluminator motor powers the Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition, which is a very impressive new vehicle. This motor outputs 281 horsepower and 317 lb.-ft. of torque, both rather impressive numbers. Ames residents that want even more power, however, can always install two motors! It caps out at 13,800 RPM and has a 9.05:1 gear ratio. The motor weights just over 200 pounds, coming in at 205. The kit includes:

    • HV motor to traction inverter harness
    • LV harness/connector
    • Vent tube assembly

Ford does note, however, that it does not include a traction inverter, control system, or battery. Ford Performance, the division of the company that has packaged the Eluminator for sale, is working to build out their range of available kits.

Ford's Electric Future

In early March of 2022 Ford announced plans to split its business into three divisions: a commercial one, an internal combustion engine-focused one, and an electric vehicles division. This will allow the company to more effectively compete with its rivals in the electric vehicle space. It will also help the company reach its goal of getting 50% of its sales to be EVs by the turn of the decade.

The release of the Eluminator makes perfect sense in this context. This powerful motor will appeal to Des Moines residents who want to build new, forward-facing versions of vehicles. Nothing prevents one from using older models - Ford released details on a 1978 Ford F-100 that had been converted to run with two Eluminator motors!
