New Ford Expedition at Ames Ford Lincoln near Des Moines, IA
For 2015, the Ford Expedition has been updated with a slew of new technologies and a new powertrain. You will find it more comfortable and capable then ever. The all new EcoBoost engine 5.4L V-8 boasts 310 hp with 365 lb-ft of torque. This allows the Expedition to pull up to 9200 lbs. When the driving is bad, the optional ControlTrac 4x4 Drive (4WD) System helps provide secure traction. Confidence is what the 2015 Ford Expedition is all about.
Powering the Ford Expedition
For the first time, the Ford Expedition is powered by a V6. Not just any V6, though. A powerful 3.5L V6 newly designed by Ford engineers delivers 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque.
It does this with direct-injection technology (Ti-VCT) and intercooled twin turbochargers. This engine is new to Expedition but its technology has been proven in the demanding working world of the Ford F-150.
The 2015 Expedition's Design
The 2015 sports a new nose, revised headlights and a stylish new grill. On the rear, a new set of taillights spruces things up. New for 2015 is a Platinum trim level which incorporates chrome headlights and custom rims. As in previous years, an extra long EL model offers 14 of additional length and a full 42 extra cubic feet of storage. Inside the MyFord Touch system is mounted in the dash and offers integration of smartphones and navigation technology.
Ford is all about safety and the expedition includes the best of it. First, the expedition includes six standard airbags. There are front-seat side airbags and dual-stage front-seat airbags, and side-curtin airbags that release from the vehicle headliner on both sides of the Expedition. Traction control comes standard on the Expedition. This system reduces engine power or applies braking at the wheel with the least traction to control wheel spin.
